New Australian Search Engine Launches

A new Australian search engine launched last week! LocalRunner.com.au has been in planning for many years now and finally arrived officially May 2nd 2007.

The concept is simple... LocalRunner provides local community portals on a regional basis. The first region to be covered is Northern Rivers NSW, more specifically the major centres of Lismore, Kyogle, Casino, Byron Bay, Ballina, Tweed Heads, Murwillumbah with attention also to the smaller townships of Mullumbimby and Nimbin.

Residents of the Northern Rivers region would probably feel that Grafton should have been included in this community portal as geographically it's a fit. While that is true it's also evident that Grafton at a greater distance doesn't really fit into the main "economic" region of Northern Rivers.

The decision was made to provide local community portals for approximate "economic" regions within known geographic regions in order to serve the communities better with more relevant information.

Each local community portal will be member driven in that the services offered will be driven by user feedback and will have access to LocalRunner.com.au's Australia Search, regional search and world search provided by Google.

The Australia Search is a meta search providing blended results from MSN, Yahoo, and LocalRunner's own growing database. The blending process uses averaging of rankings to return very relevant results.

LocalRunner is now accepting australian site submissions.
